Baptist Health Louisville is proud to announce that it has been awarded the RN Residency with Distinction accreditation with the Practice Transition Accreditation Program ® (PTAP) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). It is the highest recognition an organization can be awarded by the ANCC.

The Baptist Health Louisville New Graduate RN Residency Program offers evidence-based curriculum that provides residents a collaborative learning environment to successfully transition into clinical practice.

Residents are given the opportunity to work alongside experienced staff and learn in a real-life setting to be better prepared and more confident as they enter the workforce.

The benefits of this newly accredited program are quality of residency program content, knowledge and experience of faculty, evidence-based practice, satisfaction of residents, and improved patient care and outcomes.

“This accreditation aligns with our organizational mission, vision, faith-based values, and commitment to patient safety,” said Melissa Collins, MSN, RN, NPD-BC, professional development specialist for Baptist Health Louisville, and program director for the accreditation. “The achievement was a collaborative effort that validates the support new graduate RNs receive from their preceptors, colleagues and leaders in both practice and classroom environments throughout their first year of practice.”

“Baptist Health Louisville is proud to receive the RN Residency with Distinction accreditation, the highest recognition given by the ANCC,” said Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer Karen Higdon, DNP, RN, NEA-BC. “The PTAP accreditation is not only an honor, but a great benefit to overall healthcare, ensuring our nurses are fully supported from their education into clinical practice. Being awarded the PTAP accreditation – after receiving the prestigious Magnet designation three times – is a statement to our patients and the community that Baptist Health Louisville is committed to quality healthcare that includes ensuring our nursing staff are dedicated to providing the highest standards of patient care from the start of and throughout their careers.”
