Edward Miller, MD
Maternal Fetal Medicine Division Director and Chief Diversity Officer at University of Louisville Health
Edward Miller, MD, was born in Compton California. He often times says that he was born to be a Maternal Fetal Medicine physician as he was born severely preterm as one of the “crack babies” of the early 80’s in inner city Los Angeles. Edward was born and raised in the California foster care system but was fortunate enough to have foster parents and mentors that allowed him to believe in himself.
He attended college at New York University and later medical school at Wake Forest University. It was during medical school that he realized that his mission was to care for women, babies, and families. Edward attended Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Howard University Hospital where the focus on health care equity and the identification and elimination of social determinants of health became a passion. He was fortunate enough to continue his education at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) where he received fellowship training in Maternal Fetal Medicine. Following fellowship, he was recruited to join the faculty as the division director of Maternal Fetal Medicine and Chief Diversity office of U of L Health.
