Mike began work as executive director of Health Enterprises Network in April 2007. Prior to this position with the Network, Mike was owner/president of Managed Healthcare Business Development Consulting. As an independent consultant, Mike worked with a variety of community and healthcare leaders including Passport, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Anthem and the University of Louisville.
In addition to healthcare consulting, Mike was executive director of two Humana managed care plans in Virginia and Florida, and associate director within several Humana acute care hospitals in Arizona and California. Because of Mike’s leadership work in managed care, ambulatory care and hospitals, he was ultimately selected as Humana’s director of management information, based in Louisville, where he was a key executive in the development and implementation of Humana’s national health information system. Mike also gathered health-related professional experience through his work at Health Management Associates Inc. as a hospital administrator in North Carolina; the John-Kenyon Eye Center as group practice administrator; ValueOptions as regional executive director; Symbion Ambulatory Resource Center as practice administrator; and at Bank of America.
Mike obtained a bachelor of arts in economics, graduating cum laude from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Also, he holds a master’s in health management from the Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. Mike has been married to Carol H. Muldoon—a Louisville native—for over 22 years. Most recently, Carol was senior vice president for AmerihealthMercy, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mike and Carol have one child, Kevin, who is currently a mechanical engineering major at the University of Kentucky.
